Where Is The US Open Golf? [2023 Tournament]

As the golf season begins to hot up, it’s time to take our attention to the third of four majors, the US Open.

Those lucky enough to have a spot in the field, either through an exemption or local qualifying, will have the chance to add their name to the list of the game’s greats on the US Open trophy.

But where is this year’s US Open taking place? Here’s a quick look at the golf course for 2023.

Where Is The 2023 US Open Golf?

The US Open will take place on June 15th-18th 2023 at The Los Angeles Country Club in Los Angeles, California, on the west coast of the United States.

Despite hosting the 2017 Walker Cup, the 123rd US Open Championship will be the first major championship ever held at the golf club and the first PGA Tour event since the Los Angeles Open in 1940.

In fact, you’d have to go back to 1995 for the last time that a major championship was held in the area, for the 1995 PGA Championship at Riviera Country Club.

Founded in 1897, the golf club has a rich history and is widely known as one of the best golf clubs in the area.

With fast greens and challenging design, the club has 36 holes of golf; the North Course and South Course.

The North Course, a 7200-yard par 70, is the more difficult of the two and will be the course on display at the 2023 showing.

Set in the heart of one of the country’s most vibrant cities, the location is a great one for a large golf event and the 2023 US Open Championship is set to be a thrilling showcase of skill.

Who Is Playing In The US Open 2023?

The star-studded field for the 2023 US Open will include most of the current best players in the world.

All of the world’s top 25 golfers will be competing, with the exception of Will Zalatoris, who’s still struggling with injury problems.

Englishman and defending champion, Matt Fitzpatrick, will look to pick up his 2nd major championship. However, he’ll have to fight off a strong challenge from in-form PGA Champion, Brooks Koepka and 2023 Masters winner, Jon Rahm.

World Number one Scottie Scheffler will also be looking to add a US Open to his major collection, while Rory McIlroy will try to emulate what he did in 2011 en route to a first major title.

American Gary Woodland will also be trying to relive the magic from his US Open victory in 2019 at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

One of the other big names missing from the 2023 lineup is Tiger Woods, whose injury problems still mean he’s unable to compete for the duration of the golf tournament.

Final Thoughts

With the 2023 US Open set to be a great one, who will be the golfer walking down the 18th in the final round with two strokes to spare?

Will it be one of the game’s best? Or could it be a rookie from final qualifying? Either way, it’s going to be very exciting to watch!
