The 2023 Ryder Cup is one of the most hotly anticipated events in recent years. With such as strong Team USA, but on European soil, it’s all to play for.
But where is this year’s Ryder Cup being played and which courses have previously hosted? Let’s take a look.
Where Is The Ryder Cup?
Where Is The 2023 Ryder Cup Being Played?
The 2023 Ryder Cup will take place at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome, Italy. It’s a Ryder Cup debut for the country of Italy, having never hosted the event before.
Despite never hosting a Ryder Cup, Marco Simone Golf and Country Club have played host to the Italian Open on multiple occasions, including the previous three tournaments.
The par 72, 7,268-yard golf course was first designed and built in 1989 but has since had a redesign for the Ryder Cup, which was completed in March 2021.
The redesign focuses on creating moments of drama, with risk/reward opportunities and great viewing points for the huge number of spectators who’ll be watching.
The golf club just outside the Italian capital was originally named after the Marco Simone castle, which was built by the Romans in the year 1000.
Both Ryder Cup captains will be looking to try and tame the challenging test of championship golf. The home team captain, Luke Donald, will hope his European Team has what it takes to bring the trophy back to Europe.
Whilst Zach Johnson and his Ryder Cup team will be doing their best to recreate last time out at Whistling Straits and achieve a win on away soil for the first time since 1993 at The Belfry.
Where Is The Ryder Cup In The Next Few Years?
Italy is set to host their first-ever Ryder Cup in 2023, but what do future venues look like?
Following the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone Golf Club, the event will move back to the USA for 2025 where it will take place at Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, NY.
In 2027, the Ryder Cup returns to Europe for the 46th outing at the incredible Adare Manor in Ireland. The 5-star venue, known as the ‘Augusta of Ireland’, will be the 2nd time Ireland has hosted the Ryder Cup and 20 years after The K Club hosted in 2006.
For 2029, the Ryder Cup will return to Hazeltine National Golf Club for the 2nd time, the scene of a USA victory in 2016.

Final Thoughts
As the Ryder Cup heads to Italy for the first time, the best golfers from the PGA Tour and DP World Tour (despite the event having no prize money) will be hoping they can do enough to gain an automatic qualification or perhaps earn a spot via the captain’s picks.
Team Europe will look to win for the 7th time in a row on home soil, with the likes of Rory McIlroy and Matt Fitzpatrick playing. However, USA captain, Zach Johnson will be hoping to break the rot on foreign soil.
Either way, the venue for the 2023 Ryder Cup looks to be a brilliant one that should provide plenty of drama, especially in the final day singles, alongside a brilliant Ryder Cup format for golf’s biggest team event.
