DP World Tour

In a thrilling conclusion to the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, Finnish golfer Sami Valimaki emerged victorious, clinching his second European Tour title after a tense play-off against former champion Jorge Campillo.

Valimaki, who trailed Campillo throughout the final round, pushed ahead with a crucial birdie on the 17th hole.

Despite this, Campillo fought back, birdieing the 18th to force the playoff.

Valimaki, however, held his nerve and secured the win with a composed birdie putt in the extra hole.

This victory marks the 11th European Tour win by a Finnish player and the first since Kalle Samooja’s triumph in June 2022.

Meanwhile, Scott Jamieson’s final-round 69 ensured his DP World Tour card for the next season, as he finished tied for third, elevating from 119th to 82nd in the season-long rankings.

As the final week of the regular DP World Tour season, it meant heartbreak for many players who hadn’t done enough to secure their playing rights for the next season.

Past tour winners such as Marc Warren and Alexander Levy will have to hope for a good week at Q-school to try and regain their card.

With no event on the DP World Tour this week, we look towards the Challenge Tour and the final event of the season.

Players will be looking to finish in the top 20 on Road to Mallorca Rankings, to earn a place on the DP World Tour for next year.

LPGA Tour

Celine Boutier triumphed in an extraordinary nine-hole playoff to win the Maybank Championship, tying for the second-longest playoff in LPGA Tour history.

The French golfer secured her fourth title of the season and the sixth of her career with a decisive birdie putt after a marathon duel against Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul.

The playoff, which included a 90-minute weather delay, saw Boutier maintain her composure, highlighted by her bogey-free round and a final eight-under-par 64, culminating at 21-under for the tournament.

Rookie, Rose Zhang also managed a tie for third place, adding to her impressive first season.

This week the tour heads to Japan for the TOTO Japan Classic at the fantasticΒ Taiheiyo Club Minori Course.
