Welcome to The Weekly Slice.
Let’s talk golf.
Tour Roundup
PGA Tour
Hideki Matsuyama clinched a remarkable victory at the Genesis Invitational with a final round of 62, marking his first PGA Tour win since the Sony Open over two years ago.
Starting six shots behind, Matsuyama’s flawless performance propelled him to finish three shots ahead of runners-up Will Zalatoris and Luke List.
This win at Riviera Country Club made him the first player in the tournament’s history to score 62 or better in the final round.
Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth was disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard after mistakenly marking a 3 instead of a 4 on the par-3 fourth hole.
Tiger Woods made his first start of the year but had to withdraw mid-second round due to illness, marking an early exit from the tournament he hosted, after experiencing “flu-like symptoms” and dehydration.
This week the tour is in Vallarta for the Mexico Open.
A slightly weaker field than the previous week, it gives guys with limited tour status the chance to play and try to compete at the top.
LET Tour
Patty Tavatanakit secured a dominant victory at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International, marking her first European Tour win since the 2021 ANA Inspiration.
The Thai golfer led wire-to-wire, finishing seven shots clear of the field with a final round of 65, matching her first-round score for a total of 18-under par.
This win, her first in nearly three years, earned her a significant $750,000 from the event’s record $5 million purse.
Germany’s Esther Henseleit finished second, while England’s Charley Hull tied for third with Japan’s Minami Katsu.

Sun Day Red
Last week Tiger Woods debuted his new line of clothing at the Genesis Open and let’s just say, it had mixed reactions.
Personally, I’m a fan of the logo and think the name will grow on me.
The styles are pretty basic (which is never a bad thing) and I’ll no doubt end up buying some of the pieces because I’m a Tiger fan.
What’s your thoughts on the collection?
