If you’re just getting into golf, finding a set of golf clubs that don’t cost the earth can be tricky. Golf is an inherently expensive game after all.
When it comes to beginner golf equipment, Ben Sayers are experts in producing good quality golf gear at very affordable prices.
I’m a big fan of the Ben Sayers Electric Golf Trolley, which gives golfers a budget option for a good quality golf trolley, but how do the golf clubs match up?
In this article, we’ll have a look at the Ben Sayers M11 clubs and see if they offer a beginner golfer good value.
Ben Sayers M11 Reviews
Ben Sayers M11 Golf Package Set
The Ben Sayers brand is synonymous with golf and having started in 1873 out of North Berwick Golf Club, it’s known as one of the oldest golf companies in the game. Ben Sayers, therefore, knows a thing or two about building golf clubs.
The Ben Sayers M11 set comes complete with a 460cc titanium driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, hybrid, 5-PW and a mallet putter, plus a stylish red stand bag or cart bag.
The woods are designed with a lower CG which aims at producing a good penetrating ball flight, plus added forgiveness on mishit shots.
The 5 to PW set of irons are made of stainless steel with an undercut cavity to offer more support on shots. The perimeter weighting and wide sole are aimed at more playability out on the golf course and to provide more support for new golfers.
The mallet putter is a unique design which includes an alignment line and a soft polymer insert for the face, which gives a soft feel on the putting green.
Our Verdict
First off, let’s look at what these clubs are made for.
They’re a budget, almost full, set of golf clubs, designed for beginners just starting out who are looking for some decent golf clubs without having to pay the crazy prices of the top brands.
I totally understand why somebody new to the game doesn’t want to spend £500 on a driver when a) they won’t really be able to hit it and b) they might get fed up with golf and not want to play after a few attempts.
Therefore, this set of Ben Sayers golf clubs really is a great option for just about all new golfers.
The clubs are built for extra forgiveness, which is obviously important for golfers starting out when hitting the middle of the club is a rarity. And the extra forgiveness certainly is noticeable on poorly struck golf shots, which adds to the club’s increased playability.
The driver and woods do look nice down at the ball, albeit everything about the style does feel a little cheap. The technology is very limited and certainly not what you’d see in any of the top brand drivers, but it’s sufficient for the price.
The real winner for me is the mallet-style putter. It sits very well down at the ball and feels excellent off the face. Unlike some of the other cheaper putters on the market, the polymer insert seems to do a good job at giving some sort of feel on the green.
Overall, if you’re after a full set of new golf clubs, this is definitely one of the better beginners sets on the market for the money. A good set, that can certainly benefit somebody who’s new to the game.
If you’re not overly worried about getting new clubs, there’s plenty of great second-hand other clubs out there from big brands that may be a few years old, but will still most likely perform better than any new budget set.
Final Thoughts
That rounds off our review of the Ben Sayers M11 golf clubs. If you’re just starting out in golf, these clubs could be a great option for developing and learning the game.
